Homework Due Week 6


1. Create 3 X Repeats and post on your blog.
  1. Stripe Repeat
  2. Full Drop
  3. Half Drop
Discuss how you created each repeat.

2. Find and post examples of the following repeats on Flickr
(when you use flicker you can post the images on your blog).
  • Brick
  • Spot repeat
  • Diamond
  • Tossed
  • Ogee
  • Scale
  • Mirror
  • Turnover

3. In pairs find an image of  1 X pattern (alternate to the ones sourced from Flickr)
Use the knowledge you have gained from class to try and find the repeat of the pattern. 
Create a repeat in Photoshop and test your theories. Post your results on your Blog.

  1. what is a scale repeat? Also, I cannot find an ogee repeat on flickr. Do you have any advice on how else to peruse through (i already tried the advance search option)?

    A scale repeat is like Fish scales.

    If you are having problems finding the repeats use Google image search and link the images into your Blog.

    I am sure with a bit of research on the internet or in books about Textiles you will find out what a tossed and ogee repeat is.

    Perhaps you could ask some of your classmates and see if they have figured it out.

  4. oh yeah i figured the ogee now.. is tossed like the images on the pattern is like it's being tossed in the air?

  8. Is a turn over repeat one that has been reflected over the "x" axis? if not, what is it?

  9. A turn over repeat is a reflected repeat. I will give you all examples so that you can check and see if you got all of them correct.
